Writing LaTeX

I tried to write in LaTeX following the Formatting guide. But it's appearing in LaTeX. As example, I wrote $ 2^3 $ . But it's remaining same when I preview.

Hi Fahim,

It looks like you have extra whitespace between '\' and '(' . You can find hidden characters by copy-pasting your string into the text box and using the arrows to move the cursor through your code.

Here it is as you posted it above:

$ 2^3 $

Here it is with the secret whitespace characters removed:

$2^3$

Were you working on this problem in another text editor like Microsoft Word?
