I just saw 2-digit numbers and 10 and in my mind I knew that 2 10 2^{10} =1024 so based on these 'clues' I got the answer

Nope. Pure guesswork.

It is very much pure. You put together a bunch of random information and guessed the answer, which happened to be right.

In fact, this information does help solve the problem but you did not really know why. With a little more effort you could probably get there!

It is fine to get a problem correct by guessing, but you should at least try to attempt it the proper way after you have got the answer.
