Am I tripping right now?

A recent viral video depicts a young woman's hair changes back and forth when she enters different room.

Explain this phenomenon.

She is a unicorn The dress is white and gold Our perception of the color of objects depends on the the way light is reflected off their surfaces She is a teenage witch

I used the process of elimination:

It cannot be that she is a witch because everyone knows that witches have black hair. Plus if she's a witch, why turn the color of her hair from violet to blue? Why not set her hair ablaze as she walks into the other room? That would have made the video go even more viral.

It cannot be that she is a unicorn because she is not a single corn. Someone is clearly filming her hence she cannot be single. Her house seems to be neat and it doesn't have COBwebs. Hence she doesn't have cobs and she cannot be a corn.

It cannot be that the dress is white and gold because her dress is definitely grey with "playlist" printed on it in white. Besides, the answer to the question "what color is the dress?" is (A) All of the above (nigahiga reference).

It's always safe to blame things on what we perceive and leave things unanswered by asking "What is reality?" Hence the answer.

All wrong. The answer is "She is Nymphadora Tonks".

Hey , can you answer this question: Why most of the pirates have their one eye covered with a black cloth? :P

Because the covered eye would be trained to see in the dark, while the non-covered eye is trained to see in the light, which makes it much easier to get accustomed to the lighting of the lower deck and the upper deck quickly, which would benefit them during battle.

@Julian Poon Yeah you are correct. They purposefully adapt their one eye to darkness , so that at night/darkness they would easily be able to see the things in the dark by their that eye.

Since , this question was somewhat related to light , I asked this question. But it seems Pi Han Goh did not like it. ¨ \ddot\frown .

@Nihar Mahajan I don't get it. Won't you end up blind if you do that? The pupil will dilate to a tremendous extent. Besides, when you're put in a position where your life depends on good hand-eye coordination, would you give up 3 dimensional perception just to be able to see well in the lower deck, again, with only one eye?

Believe me when I tell you that losing even one half of your field of view is terrible. Whenever I get a migraine attack, I have auras that take away a little over half my field of view.

That's easy! If they covered both, they wouldn't be able to see.

Also left out the part where the nature of light source (Is it led, incandescent, fluorescent, sun, or shade) directly impacts what portions of a spectrum are reflected, and thus what color we perceive

Good point! +1

Light source and shade contrast. Keep it simple. Hair does not change color at all. Perception is the culprit.
