x 2 + 31 x = 0 x ( x + 31 ) = 0 x = 0 x + 31 = 0 x + 31 31 = 0 31 x = 31 \begin{matrix} &x^2+31x=0&\\ &x(x+31)=0&\\ \mathbf{x=0}&&x+31=0\\ &&x+31-31=0-31\\ &&\mathbf{x=-31} \end{matrix}

Step 1: Factor. x^2+31x = 0 x(x+31) = 0 Factor out the greatest common factor, x Step 2: Use the zero product property to solve. According to the zero product property, if x(x+31)=0, then x must be 0 or x+31 must be 0. Write the two equations and solve for x.

x = 0 or

x+31 = 0 x = -31 The solutions are x=0 and x=-31.

And the answer x = 0 and x = 31 not -31.-.

I mean on multiple choice there is no negative so i think the answer would be 0 ._.
