Balloon Bonanza

Logic Level 3

Julie, Kate, and Lily had a contest to see who could keep up the most balloons for the most time. Julie kept 2 balloons in the air for 16 minutes. Kate kept 3 balloons in the air for 12 minutes. Lily kept 4 balloons in the air for 8 minutes. Who won?

  • If Julie had 4 balloons, she'd get half the time she did with 2 balloons: 8 minutes.
  • If Kate had 4 balloons, she'd get two thirds the time she did with 3 balloons: 8 minutes.
  • Lily already had 4 balloons and got her time: 8 minutes.
  • Since all of the girls would get 8 minutes with 4 balloons, the answer is They were all tied .

I don’t know but I have tried the game and with two balloons, I can play till ∞, for three it’s five minutes max and for its four it’s thirty seconds,

Have you tried the game yourself? You should realise that this is the case with most of the average people, (four balloons is genuinely very tough, unless they are filled with helium/hydrogen or some lighter gas)

@Vishruth K The technique is to get the balloons to come down out of sync, means while one is coming down the other one should be going up

@Jason Gomez yeah i know, i hope we can all agree that we can keep one balloon filled with 100% CO2 for a infinite amount of time, though this problem got rated level three, 1 solver out of 21 attempts is low!

@Vishruth K Because I think the question is wrong (I was quite surprised when I saw no one reported the problem)

@Jason Gomez i think the problem might have been reported already, because I put "They were all tied, you dummyhead" as the correct answer, but now it says the corect answer is "They were all tied".

@Jason Gomez swear to all gods and demigods, four balloons is almost impossible with CO2 (carbon dioxide) inside them, but if you had balloons filled with 100% helium, they'd stay in the air for forever (unless you pop them in space) and you'd be able to keep ∞ amount of balloons in the air for ∞ amount of time
