The degree of unsaturation in C X 3 H X 3 C l X 3 is x ,
and the degree of unsaturation in C X 3 H X 4 O is y ,
and the degree of unsaturation in C X 4 H X 5 N is z .
Find x + y + z .

How do you calculate it in the second case where there is a divalent atom present in the compound?

Divalent is not taken into consideration for U.D formula

The formula for Degree of Unsaturation of an organic compound is given by
U . D = C + 1 − 2 H − N
Here
C = No. of tetravalent atoms in compound
H = No. of monovalent atoms in compound
N = No. of trivalent atoms in compound
So by putting values in this equation,... we get
x = 1 , y = 2 , z = 3
⟹ x + y + z = 6
