No. of 1x1 squares = 8x8 No. of 2x2 squares = 7x7 No. of 3x3 squares = 6x6 No. of 4x4 squares = 5x5 No. of 5x5 squares = 4x4 No. of 6x6 squares = 3x3 No. of 7x7 squares = 2x2 No. of 8x8 squares = 1x1
Therefore, total no. of squares in chessboard = 64+49+36+25+16+9+4+1 = 204 Plz upvote my solution if it is correct.

We can directly apply the formula {n(n+1)(2n+1)}/6 .... Putting n=8 , we get no.of squares =( 72*17 ) /6 = 204

Thank you for the formula. I am studying in class 10, so I don't know about this formula. I just applied my own brain. :-)
