Write a solution. Notice to Brilliant:

Don't let users post so simple questions on the name of algebra for the sake of other users (who gave the heading "cool question"?). By the way the answer is 2.

1 + 1 = 2 1 + 1 = \color{#69047E}{\boxed{2}} .

It depends on which math we are using here. If it's base 10 then the answer is 2. However if it's binary, the answer is 10. :)))

suppose,

a = b a=b

M u l t i p l y b o t h s i d e s b y b Multiply both sides by b ,

a b = b 2 ab=b^2

S u b t r a c t a 2 f r o m b o t h s i d e s a n d f a c t o r i z e Subtract a^2 from both sides and factorize :

a b a 2 = b 2 a 2 ab-a^2=b^2-a^2

a ( b a ) = ( b + a ) ( b a ) a(b-a)=(b+a)(b-a)

Simplify and add 1 to both sides:

a = b + a a=b+a

a + 1 = b + a + 1 a+1=b+a+1

Now since a=b (the starting point of this proof), we can write this as:

a + 1 = a + a + 1 a+1=a+a+1

a + 1 = 2 a + 1 a+1=2a+1

And in the case where a=1, we have:

1 + 1 = 2 + 1 1+1=2+1

So, therefore,

1 + 1 = 3 1+1=3 .....................[proved]

1 + 1 = 3 ? 1 + 1 = 3 ? .

Considering S u b t r a c t f r o m b o t h s i d e s a n d f a c t o r i z e Subtract from both sides and factorize

You can use \text{Subtract from both side and factorize}

appears as Subtract from both side and factorize \text{Subtract from both side and factorize}

otherwise, it will be hard to understand the sentence.

just look at the solution, where is the fault? if you can then tell me.otherwise this is right .

and thanks for the information,again.

How did you get a = b a = b and a b = b 2 ? ab = b^2 ? . In other words, can you say which method you have used.

@Munem Shahriar there is no problem with that. the fault is not there. try to find.

u suppose that a=b, then a-b=0, so in 5th step where u have cancelled the factors (b-a) from both side it is false because it is of 0/0, form which is undefine...

1+1=2

This is the first operation that I learned when I was a kid. All of us must know this before advancing to more complicated like subtraction, multiplication and division.
