Logic Level pending

A beggar on the street can make one cigarette out of every 6 cigarette butts he finds. After one whole day of searching and checking public ashtrays the beggar finds a total of 72 cigarette butts. How many cigarettes can he make and smoke from the butts he found?

We know that for every 6 butts he gets, he can smoke one cigarette. This must be a ratio of 6:1. He finds 72 butts. Therefore 72 divided by 6 is 12. 72 butts=12 cigarettes

But then he can smoke the 12 and have 12 butts, making an extra 2 Cigarettes, equaling 14. I think I should get credit for my answer.
