Relative density is simply the ratio of density of any material to the density of pure water at 4 degree Celsius.

Since it is the ratio of same physical quantities, therefore both units cancel out each other leaving behind RELATIVE DENSITY to be a pure number or rather I should say a unit less physical quantity.

No words left for the description of the solution's excellence!

Relative Density is defined as the ratio of the densities of the substance and the density of water at 4 degrees Celsius. Therefore the units in the numerator and the denominator are cancelled out. Therefore the required answer is Relative Density,

Relative density is a ratio of like units, so it wont carry any units.

Absolutely correct! Upvoted!

@Swapnil Das It was famously posed by Stephen Hawking himself once =]

(Add me on any social networking site, so we could probably talk a lot more about time travel, seems like you are genuinely interested. )

It is a ratio between two quantities with the same units.
