Galileo's Tower!

Galileo threw his ball from the top of the tower with velocity v v . And the ball reached the ground with velocity 3 v 3v . So what was the height of the tower?

8 v 2 g \frac{8v^2}{g} 4 v 2 g \frac{4v^2}{g} 9 v 2 2 g \frac{9v^2}{2g} 3 v 2 2 g \frac{3v^2}{2g}

Here initial velocity= v and final velocity = 3v.

Using the formula v 2 u 2 = 2 g s v^{2}-u^{2}=2gs

We get ( 3 v ) 2 v 2 = 2 g s (3v)^{2}-v^{2}=2gs .

Or, 9 v 2 v 2 = 2 g s 9v^{2}-v^{2}=2gs .

Or, 8 v 2 = 2 g s 8v^{2}=2gs .

Or, 8 v 2 2 = g h \frac{8v^{2}}{2}=gh .

Or, 4 v 2 = g h 4v^{2}=gh .

Or, 4 v 2 g = h \frac{4v^{2}}{g}=h .

Good Problem! :)
