Come on @Rohan Kumar ! This question is from this year's PSA!

Clearly, the answer was B) . Also note that the question asks for the cross - sections which are nothing but the figures left after cutting the shape in any way.

You can get A) by cutting the cone straight in the middle.

You can get C) by slicing it from any point on its curved surface to the bottom.

You can get D) by slicing it horizontally.

The only cross-section you can't get is B) .

Oh! You are from the US. PSA is Problem Solving Assessment which is held every year for 9 t h 9^{th} graders & it consists of non-routine problems which are quite tricky sometimes.

@dishant mahajan , you can easily get C by positioning the knife at any point on the curved surface & slicing it straight downwards . You can get a real cone (of modelling clay or something) & try it out.

the image a) can be cut as if we cut it from half the image c)can be cut from one side the image d)can be cut as from bottom but image b)cannot be from any side
