A girl went to a horse race and she forgot to count the horses and humans there, but she knows she saw there are 198 legs and 74 heads.
How many humans were there at the horse race?

Oh i missed the girl !
AAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH
I wrote a computer program, see the following :-
And then I tried 50 , got wrong,
I tried 24, got wrong.
And after all this, I tried 0, because i thought "It's the HORSE race, why will humans be there?" and still wrong !
LOL @Sharky Kesa , i give you a grand salute for this tricky trickster problem.
Too much tricky thing is that she saw 196 legs and 74 heads, then I am sure she at least once saw her own legs.... but she can't see her own head :P
In that case, the answer turns out to be 5 2 . Please add a note in the problem that girl is not interested in seeing own legs....
@Cody Johnson , you like trolls, this is the best kind of it.....

@Amartya Anshuman – Actually, I turned 13 a few months ago.
This is algebra and not number theory?

I think I clicked the wrong category.

Yeah, it's algebra where we get a number theory type of answer!
I'll bet most people got this on the second try. Good problem and good solution

Yeah, I too got it on the second try! Great problem!
you're right....I got it correct on the second try....
i missed the girl to hahahah........
Thats 198 not 196.
you have written wrong question you have to check your question before feeding them in computer. ok mind it next time
x --> no. of horses, y---> no of humans Except girl
4x+2y=198
x+y=74
we get x= 25 and y=49
now
49+1=50 = total no. of humans
That girl !! Really she is out of her mind.
i got it in second try coz i forget to add girl but my doubt is that why girl didn't count her head !! because when we are generally asked that how many students are there in your class, we count ourselves too .
'Cause our head is not visible to us but our legs are.
She counted her legs but not her head! That's too cute.
The girl saw her own legs but not her head.
So there are 75 heads and 198 legs actually.
(75x4)-198=102
102/2=51 humans

Quite a tricky one if you forgot to count the girl.We have two different variables the humans and horses, so we can set up those equations Amount of legs 4 x + 2 y = 1 9 6 Amount of heads x + y = 7 4 solving those equations by substitution we get 4 x + 2 ( 7 4 − x ) = 1 9 6 thus it is 2 x + 1 4 8 = 1 9 6 solving this we get x=24 horse substituting into the second equation we get 2 4 + y = 7 4 , y = 5 0 then adding the girl gives 5 1 ( note the gives equations are horses have 4 legs and humans have 2 legs).
