How old?

By dividing the year my brother was born with my age at 2000, you'll have 79. How old is he today?

Assume my brother was born in the 1900s.

The answer is 41.

Let my age be 'x' years and the year in which my brother had born be 'y'.

Now according to question,

y = 79x

Now it can be noted that 79 * 25 is 1975 and 79 * 26 is 2054.

As the year can't be 2054,

We conclude that y must be 1975.

So the age of my brother will be 2016 - 1975 which is 41.

Hence, Present age of my brother is 41 years.

79*24 is also out if the range.

It is actually logical..If we take 79 * 24 than the age of his brother would be too much!!So it is logical to take x as 25..Don't you all agree??

@Ася Шумяцька Actually it isn't.120 is also a possible answer because it is within the range of a human lifespan.

FYI, the world's oldest person Jeanne Calment achieved an age of approximately 122.5 years. And many people in the world are over 100 years old. So yes achieving the age of 120 years is possible.

But this question won't be valid years after 2016. Also we don't know if his birthday has already come.
