4^x - 4^(x-1) = 24
=(2^x)^2 - 4^x/4 = 24
=(2^x)^2 - (2^x)^2/4 =24

Let 2^x=a then
=a^2 - a^2/4 =24
=3a^2/4 =24
=3a^2 = 96
=a^2 = 32

But a=2^x then
=(2^x)^2 = 32
=2^2x = 2^5 then
=2x = 5
=x= 5/2

And value of
=(2x)^x
=(2×5/2)^5/2
=5^(5/2) this is equal to 25×sqrt(5)

And value of = 2 x x = ( 2 × 5 / 2 ) 5 / 2 = 5 5 / 2 = 2x^x =(2×5/2)^{5/2} =5^{5/2} this is equal to 25 5 25\sqrt{5} ?

2 2 x 2 2 x 2 2 3 = 3 \dfrac{2^{2x}-2^{2x-2}}{2^3}=3

2 2 x ( 1 8 1 32 ) = 3 2^{2x}\left(\dfrac{1}{8}-\dfrac{1}{32}\right)=3

2 2 x = 32 2^{2x}=32

x = 5 2 x=\dfrac{5}{2}

( 2 x ) x = ( 2 × 5 2 ) 5 2 = 25 5 \therefore (2x)^x=\left(2×\dfrac{5}{2}\right)^{\frac{5}{2}}=\boxed{25\sqrt{5}}

in step 2:how did 2 2 x 2 2^{2x-2} become 2 2 x 5 2^{2x-5} ?

Maybe a faster solution here: 4 x 4 x 1 = 28 4^x-4^{x-1}=28

3 4 x 1 = 3 8 \Rightarrow 3*4^{x-1}=3*8

2 2 ( x 1 ) = 2 3 \Rightarrow 2^ {2*(x-1)}=2^3

2 x 2 = 3 \Rightarrow 2x-2=3

x = 5 / 2 \Rightarrow x=5/2

( 2 x ) x = 5 5 / 2 = 25 5 \Rightarrow (2x)^x=5^{5/2}=25*\sqrt{5}

Your solution is a mess.

The original equation is 4 x 4 x 1 = 24 4^x - 4^{x-1} = 24

And how did you get 3 × 4 x 1 = 3 × 8 3 \times 4^{x-1} = 3 \times 8 ?

He means 24 = 3 x 8 and 4 x 4 x 1 = ( 4 1 ) ( 4 x 1 ) = 3 ( 4 x 1 ) 4^x - 4^{x-1} = (4-1)(4^{x-1}) = 3 * (4^{x-1})

Take out 4 x 1 4^{x-1} common and cancel 3 from both sides to get x=2.5 and then put in the required answer
