Let's play some chess!

Logic Level 1

It's blacks turn. Assuming optimal play from both sides, is it possible for black to checkmate the white king?

The pawn at the right side of white king can be promoted to a black queen. Now black have rook, bishop and queen, with these pieces it is obviously possible to checkmate the white king.

White king has been checkmated!

If the solution has any mistakes, please comment below.

Usually the assumption is that white starts from the bottom of the board, unless stated otherwise.

The solution is still that Black can easily checkmate eventually, but it's helpful to know which way the pawns move.

The position you have shown in your solution is not checkmate because the king is not even in check!

I know it is white's turn. Just because the king is unable to move it is not checkmate. It is only if the king is in CHECK and is unable to move then it is checkmate.
