Is there a legitimate solution or is this just a troll problem?
As in, are we just supposed to calculate it by hand?

No, I don't think anyone would sit down and calculate 2^99 by hand.
Why no use of calculater??? Useful or what!
lol
its a rubbish
Indeed. I thought Brilliant answers still had to be between 0 and 999, so I was really confused.

Obviously, 2 lo g 2 9 9 = 9 9 by definition. Then, we use Python to find 2 9 9 , and, since Python is not a calculator, we have not violated the rules, hence, we are done. ■
