Let the number of boys be x,then, number of girls = 2x. Therefore, x+2x= 3x = 60. or, x = 20. So,number of boys = 20 and number of girls = 40. Number of students behind Kamal in the rank = 60-17 = 43. Number of girls ahead of Kamal = 9. Number of girls behind Kamal = 40-9 = 31. Therefore, Number of boys behind Kamal in the rank = 43 -31 = 12.

number of boys = x number of girls =2x therefore x+2x=60 . x=20, number of boys 20. kamal rank 17, ahead of him 9 girls 17-9=8, so after him in the rank 20-8=12,

Your answer is correct, but your argument is wrong. There are 20 boys and 40 girls. Kamal's position is 17. That means there are 16 students ahead of him out of which, 9 were girls. So there are 7 BOYS ahead of Kamal. Kamal is 8th boy and there are 12 boys below his rank. I hope this is clear.

number of students is 60. in the question where there are twice as many girls as boys so number of boys is x and number of girls 2x therefor number of students x+2x=60. 3x=60. x=(60/3)=20: then kamal his boy his rank is 17 rank ahead of him 9 girls are with kamal 17-9=8; total boys 20; hence 20-8=12 so after him 12 boys are there:

There is a slight problem with this question. You need to clarify whether Kamal is a boy or a girl. This can make the answer differ by 1, 12 or 13. However, since this is a multiple choice question, this is not much of a problem.

boy is 1/3 of the groups which make them 20/60...if kamal rank is 17th from the top and 9 above him are girl,this will makes no 1 to 7 are boy..7+1(kamal)=8 which eventually leaves the remaining 12 boys below kamal

in finding the no. of boys: let x=no. of boys , 2x=no. of girls , 60= no. of all students x=60-2x
x+2x=60
3x=60 3x/3=60/3 x=20 In finding the no. of boys after Kamal: let y=no. of boys after him no. of boys after him = no. of boys - (Kamal's rank - 9 girls ahead of him) y = 20 - (17-9) y = 20 - 8 y = 12 *therefore, there are 12 boys after Kamal in the Class Ranking!

No of Girls = X
No of Boys = Y
X+Y = 60
X = 60 - Y----------(1)
X = 2(Y)------------(2) As No of Girls = 2(No of Boys)
from (1) and (2)
60 - Y = 2(Y)
60 = 2(Y) + Y
60 = 3Y
Y = 60/3
Y = 20
That means
No of Boys = 20
No of Girls = 60 - 20 = 40
Kamal's Rank = 17
16 ranks ahead of him
Girls ahead of him = 9
That means Boys ahead of him = 16 - 9 = 7
Kamal's rank in boys = 7+1 = 8
Boys left = Total Boys - Kamal's rank in Boys
Boys after him in the rank = 20-8
Boys after him in the rank = 12

since there are twice as many girls as boys, let the number of boys be a {a} and hence the number girls be 2 a {2a} This is the same as saying a + 2 a = 60 {a}+{2a}={60} 3 a = 60 {3a}={60} a = 20 {a}={20} Hence there are 20 b o y s {20boys} *and 40 g i r l s {40girls} . *Since Kamal is ranked 17th , it means there are 16 students ahead of him of which 9 are girls and the remaining 7 are boys. This leaves us with 13boys unaccounted for including Kamal. Therefore the number of boys after him equals 13 1 = 12 {13}-{1}=\boxed{12}

In the question, it is given that out of the 60 students, one third are boys, meaning there are 20 boys.

Kamal is ranked 17th, with 9 girls ahead. As there are 16 classmates ahead,

16-9 girls = 7 boys ahead of Kamal.

After Kamal, the remaining number of boys is as follows : 20-8=12

8 boys because they question wants boys ranked after Kamal, therefore the boys subtracted are either ahead of or ARE Kamal, which equates to 7+1=8

Therefore there are 12 boys after Kamal.

It is given that the girls are twice the boys and since that there are 60 students so girls are 40 and boys are 20. Since That kamal is the 17th it means that there are 16 students ahead of him. As there are 9 girls ahead of him(16-9=7) , there are 7 boys ahead. Since that we concluded there are 20 students so we are going to subtract kamal and the 7 boys ahead of him from all the 20 boys to conclude the boys after him 20-(7+1)=12

Let the total number of boys be y , hence, number of girls will be 2 y . And there are 60 boys and girls in total, so

 y + 2y = 60
      y = 20

Therefore, total number of boys = 20; and girls is 40

When Kamal (a boy) , rank 17th with 9 girls before him, this means:

 (Total of 16 person before Kamal) - (9 girls) = 7 boys before Kamal

And (Total number of boys) - (Numbers of boys before Kamal) - (Kamal himself) = Number of boys after Kamal

20 - 7 - 1 = 12

Total number of Students = 60, girls = 2 * boys. 2*boys+boys = 60, 3boys = 60 ==> 60/3, Total number of boys = 20, Total number of girls = 2 * 20 = 40.

kamal = 17th rank, 9 girls ahead of him. remaining 7 boys are ahead of him and 8 boys have been included with in 17 ranks. so Boys after kamal = 20 - 8 = 12 boys

As Girls = 2* Boys so among 60 there are 40 girls and 20 boys. 9 of the girls are of 17 top pupils so there left 8 pupils who are boys including kamal. So, rest of the 12 boys are after him. :)

Let No. of Boys = n Then No of Girls 2n Then Total Student = n + 2n = 60 or, 3n = 60, n = 60/3 = 20 No of Boys = 20 and No of Girls = 40 Kamal is ranked 17th it means there are 16 Student from Top. and 43 students after Kamal. But by the question, 9 girls ahead of him in the ranking i.e. in that 16 student. then (40 - 9 = 31) girls are after Kamal. Hence No of Boys after Kamal = 43 - 31 = 12.

coming back to our problem Kamal ranked 17th from top. IT means there are 16 pupils above him. out of these 16 pupil 9 are girls. so the remaining boys out of 16 pupil are 16-9=7 boys, 7 BOYS ON TOP OF KAMAL number of boys below kamal are ( TOTAL BOYS - (TOP BOYS ABOVE KAMAL + KAMAL) = Total boys 20 - ( TOP BOYS ABOVE KAMAL 7 + Kamal 1) =20-(7+1) NUMBER OF BOYS BELOW KAMAL are 12

So, there are 60 pupils, then the instruction says that "there are twice as much girls as boys. 60 divided by 3 is 20, hence there are 40 girls and 20 boys. From there, subtract 9 from 17 so that it equals 8. As we know, there are 20 boys and 60 girls, so, subtract 8 from 20 and you get the result, which is 12.

because there are total 20 boys and 40 girls in the class and before kamal there are 9 girls then rest of the 8 students will be boys including him till ranked 17th. so 20 minus 8 will be equal to 12.

Let the number of boys be x. Then, numbers of girls = 2x. .'. x + 2x = 60 or 3x = 60 or x = 20. So, number of boys = 20 and numbers of girls = 40. Number of boys behind Kamal in rank = 43 - 31 = 12.

x = number of boys in class
y = number of girls in class
From the statement of the problem we can make 2 equations:

  • y = 2 × x 2\times x
  • x + y = 60
    We substitue y from the first equation in the second one => x+ 2 × x 2\times x = 60 =>
    3 × x 3\times x = 60 => x = 20( number of boys in class ) that means the number of girls in class is y = 60 - 20 = 40
    We now know that there are 20 boys and 40 girls in Kamal's class. Kamal is ranked 17th from the top. That means there are 16 people ahead of him, 9 of which are girls and 16 - 9 = 7 of which are boys. We subtract the number of boys ahead of Kamal + Kamal from the number of all the boys in the class. 20 - (7 + 1) = 12 the number of boys after Kamal.

Let, the number of boys in the class be x

Therefore, number of girls = 2 x

Total number of students in the class = 60

Number of girls + Number of boys = 60

2 x + x = 60

3 x = 60

Therefore, x = 60/3 = 20 So, Number of boys = 20

Kamal is ranked 17th from the top. So, there are 16 students ahead of him out of which 9 are girls

Therefore, number of boys ahead of Kamal = (16 - 9) = 7

Number of boys till 17th rank = 7 + 1 (i.e. of Kamal) = 8

Therefore, number of boys after Kamal = Total number of boys - Number of boys till 17th rank = 20 - 8 = 12

Let no. of Boys = x. no. of girls = 2x (given) total students (boys+girls)=60; x+2x=60 => x=20 boys 20 girls 40

Now kamal Is ranked 17th so 16 people are ahead of him . If 9 of them are girls,(16-9)=7 boys are ahead of him. As there are 19 boys apart form him . Number of boys behind him (19-7)=12.

As there are double the number of girls than boys, we can take boys as 'x' and girls as '2x'. Therefore 2x+x=60, 3x=60 and x=60/3. Therefore x=20. There are x= 20 boys and 2x= 40 girls. As Kamal is ranked 17th and there are 9 girls better than him, there can only be 17-9=8 boys better than him. And as there are only 20 boys in the class, with 8 being better than him, the amount of boys worse than him is 20-8=12. Therefore the answer is 12.

Let the no. of boys be x x . Then no. of girls = 2 x =2x . We have,

x + 2 x = 60 3 x = 60 x = 20 x+2x=60 \implies 3x=60 \implies x=20

So, no. of boys = 20 =20 and no. of girls = 40 =40

9 girls are ahead of Kamal who ranked 17. So, there are 17 9 = 8 17-9=8 boys including Kamal and those ahead of him.

So, boys after him = = (Total no. of boys) - (No. of boys ahead of Kamal and also including Kamal) = 20 8 = 12 = 20-8 = \boxed{12}

In a class of 60 where the girls are twice that of boys, you can easily figure out that there are 40 girls and 20 boys. In the question, they are asking how many people are after him, so if there's 9 girls ahead of him there must be 8 boys ahead of him, too. That leaves 12 boys which are ranked ahead of him.

LET THE NUMBER OF BOYS BE x,THEN NUMBER OF GIRLS ARE 2x, BUT BY GIVEN CONDITION ,x PLUS 2x EQUALS TO 60, THIS IMPLIES x EQUALS TO 20 AND 2x EQUALS TO 40 BOYS ARE 20,GIRLS ARE 40, AND KAMAL GOT 17 RAANK,AND 9 GIRLS ARE AHEAD OF HIM............IT IMPLIES THAT 7 BOYS ARE ALSO AHEAD OF HIM........... SO, REMAINING BOYS ARE AFTER HIM ARE 20 MINUS 8(7 PLUS 1 ) WHICH IS EQUAL TO 12

Kamal Rank is 17 and there are 9 girls ahead of him so we collect with a number of girls who have the highest ranking of 26 is the output so the rest of the students have the number 34 if the girls were twice that of boys we Divide the number 34 on 3 the final answer 12 boys are after him in rank.
