What is the best move?

Logic Level 2

Using logical combinations, what is the best move for white to gain an advantage? It's white turn to move.

g3 \text{g3} Rd1 \text{Rd1} Qe4 \text{Qe4} Bb3 \text{Bb3}

The best move for white is Qe4! \text{Qe4!} . Double attack. The white queen is threatening a mate (Qxh7#) \text{(Qxh7\#)} while attacking the black bishop at h 4 h4 .

Why is that the only sequence of moves to consider? That feels somewhat arbitrary.

E.g. Why can't Black move his pawn to g6? Or move his pawn to f4?

Because the black bishop is under attack, so the bishop must capture something.

So what? Why can't we sacrifice that piece? At least that might delay the mate further.

You are saying that "There is only this 1 possible route to take", which is not justified. There are other paths that are possible, and they have to be explored too.

@Calvin Lin I got the point, I deleted my solution. The important thing is the first move which must be Q e 4 ! Qe4!
