This is should the solution:

man1 * dayhourjob1 = man2 * dayhourjob2

5 * (5)(4)(3) = 15 * (day)(2)(1)

300 = 30day

day = 300/30

day = 10

I disagree with your equation. It should be that the time spent per job is the same.

It is also not clear how many jobs the 15 workers are supposed to complete. From the context, I would think that it is 3 jobs, instead of just 1.

I have updated the answer to 1.111. Those who previously answered 3 (assumption of 3 jobs, with requirement of integer answer) were marked correct.

Hi, Calvin. Why do you disagree with my equation?

For the 3 jobs I got an answer of 3.333. For 1 job this would be 3.333.. / 3 = 1.1111.. which is the answer you submitted, is it not?

Please clarify. Thanks.

I am disagreeing with Celmar's solution above. He stated that

man1 * day * hour * job1 = man2 * day * hour * job2

The equation should be

man1 * day * hour / job1 = man2 * day * hour / job2

This explains why Celmar provided an answer of 10, which is wrong. I agree that the answer of 3.333 is correct (given a suitable interpretation), which is why those who answered 3 have been marked correct.

My comment was not in direct response to your dispute.

@Calvin Lin Thanks, Calvin. My false assumption.

BTW, I believe that 3 was my answer, however my records were not changed.

@Guiseppi Butel You have been marked correct. You should have received an email with the subject title of "We made a change to a problem you tried", in which we explained that you attempt has been marked correct.

However, we are unable to change what your display on this problem says, because it will only reflect "1.111" as the correct answer now.
